Default Flex plate bolts

Where can I get flex plate bolts like the originals with the short head ? I bought some ARP bolts but the head touches my torque converter. I got some Mr Gasket bolts with the thin head but they are too long, they are listed as flywheel bolts.

The guys here, collectively, probably have hundreds of decent originals. And they can be shipped cheap, thru the US Mail.

thepontiacman problably has a few dozen or more, himself.

When I still had my shop, I had a gallon can or jug that was probably half full of 'em. I kept all the Pontiac engine bolts, in separate containers, so I could find 'em easily, when needed. There are probably quite a few guys here who do the same, now.

If you still have the flywheel bolts, you could cut them down to size.
Just try not to overheat the bolt while cutting.

Or as ponyakr says, someone probably has some they could send you.

What's the best way to cut a grade 8 bolt?

It's not the thread length it is head thickness.

I ran into the same problem with ARP.

That's true, but he had Flywheel bolts with the shorter head.
The bolts are longer for them.
He could cut them to the correct size as the flexplate bolts, and still have the short height head.

I'd use a power hacksaw.
A regular hacksaw would probably work also.
Best to put a nut on it first before cutting.
That way the thread on cut end won't be too bad once nut is unscrewed.
(and probably be a good heat sink)
