65 grand prix 10dn to 10si
Has anybody done a 10dn to 10si conversion on their 65 grand prix. Mine has the ammeter and 2 wire voltage regulator. Not sure how to do this conversion with my setup. Thanks

If I recall correctly all you need to do is attach the main wire to back of 10SI as normal, then add a wire jumper from that to #2 terminal of alternator's plug-in connector. You can also wire a charge light if needed from #1. Unplug connector at the old voltage regulator and wrap it up for protection.

The current shunt for the meter is a tap in the wiring where it runs along the intake. The ammeter won't care what alternator you use, it will work as normal.

I was wondering about this myself. So with our cars only having 2 wires at the regulator, we simply unplug it? No jumper there like on the 3 wire ones?

Right, nothing else (but the jumper at alternator output to Term #2) is needed. The field wire from old regulator is no longer required...and the other wire to regulator was simply ignition-switched power to it. Like LAS noted, the ammeter shunt already i nthe wiring harness delivers the charging current to battery.

Where is the shunt in the harness located?

They just use the wire itself as the shunt, it's not a separate part.
