Some copywriter transcribing off a Dictaphone (high tech in those days) and what was meant was "stop the ping"? IDK Maybe the fiberglass hood was intended and never made it into production? I have a '71 and it has AWLOH (a whole lotta hood). |

Since the scoops were forward like the Formula Firebird, possibly they were going fiberglass (like the Formula)?
Production procedures or manufacturing costs probably over ruled it.

I have a 71 GTO hood also and it is all steel including the scoops. A repop shroud that I bought from one of the usual suspects is 'glass however.
