I got this thing running like a top now, still sorting out a few issues with the brakes and steering before its maiden voyage. I ordered a brand new Lares pump to put in the pontiac canister, and a rebuilt brake booster as it seems mine is not holding vacuum. (no "whoosh) if I unplug the check valve with the car off) Also misplaced my front seatbelts but it seemed like the type of thing you should have new so I bought a set from seatbeltsplus.com. Not too worried about the rears yet, as I don't think my 5 year old son would have any leg room back there behind my seat anyway.

I suspected this might be the case, but the one I ordered will come with a free one so I'll try that first before I go ripping the whole thing back out. If this booster will work I can always use the one I'm getting today in the 62 catalina.
Next up is the issue that my headlight doors don't move an inch. But at least they're stuck open so its a "down the road" deal. |

I put the new booster in and it seems better but I think I still have air in the lines. I did (accidentally) find a leak at one of the calipers yesterday. I was using my phone as a flashlight to bolt the new booster to the firewall. It fell down onto the frame and I had to put cardboard down to get under the car and fish it out. When I came back I noticed new drops of brake fluid on the cardboard. Cranked that banjo bolt down a bit more and it stopped. I am assuming that where the fluid can get out, air can get in and this is one of my problems. But I'm going to have a buddy come over this weekend and help me bleed the brakes rather than gravity bleeding. I tried gravity bleeding again but the fluid didn't move from that side with the bleeder cracked.
New seatbelts are in, PS pump will be here Tuesday, and replacement heater controls going in soon. |

I drove it!!!!
Only issues are a still leaking caliper, and a decent sized oil leak coming from the timing cover seal. Brakes seem a bit weak but there's years of crud on the rotors and that leak to address still. Maybe just need to readjust to old car brakes.

I did not realize that you were running Rally Is on your car. I'm in the middle of refinishing a set to put on my '68.
