Exhaust manifold grease
Anyone ever hear of a grease you can put on your exhaust manifolds turning them silver,
Friend of mine was at a show and and talked to a man that used it problem can't remember the name of the product all he remembered is it comes in a small tube and you put a dab on your finger and rub it on Thanks in advance Gregg |

I remember reading somewhere about painting them with anti-seize. Never tried it, though. It'll probably stick, but it sounds like a messy, and probably smelly job when it gets hot.

I do know motor oil will clean them up. When I got my GTO back in 2007 the rings were broken on 4 cylinders and the blow by came out the air breather cap on the right side valve cover. All that oil hitting the right side exhaust manifold cleaned it up nice and got rid of the rust. I'm not saying soak the exhaust manifolds with oil and run your car but it does work. I know that for a fact.
Anti-seize will be the same mess as motor oil. Smoke and all, but it should work. Just use a rag it lightly coat the manifolds and see what happens. But do it out of town on a back road that doesn't get much traffic so no one sees ya.

The stuff was called Calyx. I used it once and it does work nicely but needs to be reapplied once in a while which gets kind of difficult in a tight engine compartment. The stuff gets on everything just like antisieze.

Another possibility is stove polish or stove black, it's the stuff you rub on a wood stove to make them look nice. Stores that sell wood stoves or fireplace inserts should have it.

Calyx is the product that the Corvette guys have been using for over 20 years.

I was going to use some of that but decided I'd go with the original exhaust manifold finish...Rust.
