I suspect you missed the first digit.

The '64 Chevelle used casting 3839390N.

AFAIK, the Chevy 10 bolt axles were held in by C-clips so the service procedure is different from the Pontiac design.

FWIW, I'v been holding on to a May '65 cast 9779822 Housing and Tubes (the correct '65 Tempest casting p/n).

IIRC, it is stamped WD (2.93 gear originally). But aside from that, it is correct for any '65 GTO.

I have the bare housing with tubes but also have axles and such, it was a complete operating rear under my '64 when I disassembled it years ago.

How much my buddy has a rare 65 nodular that he will sell me complete for cheap it's a xh 3.55
