Default 70 GTO on eBang - not mine

https://www.ebay.com/itm/1971-Pontia...5aa9jF&vxp=mtr

Actually, it's a 71. I sent the seller a message asking him if he had the PHS or anything documenting the ram air and he replied, "IT IS A RAM AIR, SIR".

Okay, I guess I'll take his word for it.....NOT!

Looks really nice but hard to believe all orig with only 9000 miles. Could be I suppose but can't imagine paint would look that good at 47 years old! I'd be in the running if it was a 4 speed (and if I went to look at it in person)

Some things just don't look right. ac compressor, blacked out hood scoops, no vin sticker on door, chrome valve covers, type of lug nuts, pictures of the pretty stuff show me the undercarriage. It could be a great deal, I'd need more photos. Seller also has a 2500 mile 91 syclone listed. No sales history, just reviews as a buyer.

Default '71 GTO

Drivers door has been repainted on the inside - overspray on the latch and missing 2 bumpers. Looks like a nice restoration but 'original' - hard to believe.

This is a good looking GTO and it certainly might be whatever is advertised, but when an ad states "still has that new car smell" I tend not to take much of the seller's words to serious. Fifty years is along time to not have vented out a new interior.
IMHO :--)

That's a good point. "9,000 original miles with that new car smell" sounds too fantastic to be true.

Default purchasing

I've passed on cars through the year's because of the seller's approach [read lousy] and have regretted it later on. Live and learn. :--)

That is very true. I has almost gave up on a seller once because he wouldn't return my emails. I thought he was hiding from buyers, but he was actually very busy working two jobs. I ended up buying the International Scout and it's one of the nicest Scouts I have ever owned.

One time I was very much into buying a GTO that was spot on for what I was looking fo,r but the non-stop lies the seller would say for no apparent reason made suspect about everything. I passed up on the car.

Unfortunately the classic car hobby is loaded with swindlers, hucksters and snake oil salesmen.
