GIBBS Brand Lubricant/Penetrant/Protectant
I've read a bit about this product, used by quite a few old car owners to protect and preserve car bodies left in bare metal for extended periods of time. Those who like the bare metal look use it as a permanent type of protectant and rust inhibitor.
http://www.gibbsbrandlubricant.com/about-us.htm Does anyone here have experience with this product either good or bad? I've also read where it doesn't inhibit the adhesion of primers or paint in the future, is this true? Thanks for any input on this, considering using it to protect and preserve my Le Mans convertible, half of it is bare metal right now.

That is the most fantastic stuff I've ever tried.
Have been using it for years and everything they say about it is true. First thing I did was use it sparingly to coat a piece of body metal I had glass beading clem, then threw it outside for six months to see what happened. No rust! http://www.roadsters.com/gibbs/ |

I am also a big fan of Gibbs... though I have NOT done the
'coat a body panel and let it sit in the rain for 6 months' test.. I usually spray some into a glass coffee mug and use it to soak rusted bolts and such.. then wire wheel clean and try to leave a thin coating to prevent rust when reinstalled. I know there are other products that will do the same but I like how the Gibbs works.. It seems thick and coating to the touch which I like. It will take me a few years more to determine if it is as effective as claimed. I guess I would say that at this point I like what it does do and hope that it does all that it is supposed to do.. I usually buy it in the 6 pack of spray cans and try to use it as sparingly as possible.. it can be kind of pricy stuff.. John
