Default Boost and traction problems

Ok I have a turbo car 79 trans am and I am making 12# of boost right now on e85 and I am running a 28” tall M&H drag radial with a 3.08 gear with Turbo 400 , the problem is when I race anyone the car just spins as soon as the boost comes in and I lose every race because the boost comes in all at once ....is there a way to maybe bring boost in slower or ramp up ?? This is on the street at the track it would be ok I think ... I have the widest tire I can fit it’s 11” wide ....

lower the boost, you should have a manual boost or electronic controller. 8 psi is about it on the street before tires are always spinning. 8 psi will hurt a lot of feelings anyway. What is done to the front and rear supension?
90-10's up front with a good set of Santuff springs help. Leaf spring car should not be to bad to get to hook.

Hey Jeff Yea I got used to 12# now and in 3rd gear it pulls hard the front suspension is Viking coil overs with there adjustable shocks set at 90/10 with a ws6 sway bar hooked up car drive like crap without it and the rear has dearched springs to lower the car 2.5” and cal track bars with stock shocks also has sub frame connectors was thinking if I could keep the boost at 6 or 8 in first and then after 2nd gear start increasing it to 12 some how maybe some kind of boost controller....

There are boost controllers like that, I just did a bunch to my car in an effort to hook on the street but the street is a difficult deal. I was racing Charlie one night on a major hwy from a roll, doing about 50-60, 12 psi when I had the stick, built a little boost by stepping on the brake, let it go and almost nosed the car to the center divider. Tried again and it just spun, this was his nitrous Ventura, which hooks great.
I saw one controller with 3 switches I thought was cool. EFI guys can program to pull timing and fuel and have it ramp in. I am a poor guy so my foot has to control it. LOL Good luck.
Next set of radials try the MT pros. My friend had the M+H but said the mt's hooked better. Some say the opposite but it is worth a try.

I heard the same thing on the mt pros but I have 17” snowflake wheels so the m&h were the only one that were 28” tall ...

Get a programmable timing box,MSD 7531 or 6530, let the boost build as fast as it can but pull timing to kill a bit of power wherever in the power range you need to.

I run a 6psi wg spring and when I get into 2nd gear a hit a button and get 12psi through a manual controller. You can rig this up for about $30.

Install a manual boost controller and set it to desired psi. then splice this into the supply line.

Wire this up with a micro switch on your shifter and you have a poor mans two stage controller! And you can adjust the second stage while you drive. On my ford I have a few paint marks on the controller for settings up to 20.

I'm loving mine so far. Our car club does a street 0-60 contest every year and this was a big help. Also makes changes at the track very simple.
