is that the only thing they could find to count off? I would make them rejudge it. who was the judge that said this?

My '72 Firebird "Donor car" still has its seats in it. early Dec car. The seat mounts are on top of the carpet. Never been out of the car.
Lots of evidence to get those points back. I can get pics if needed, but others here have already . Good Luck bob, and Looking Great!!

Here's a couple photos from when we did the heater core replacement. This was the first time the seats had ever been removed from the 19,000 mile car.

At the 2016 MCACN Vintage Certification the judges were amazed at the original seat tracks on my car which still had the cosmoline film on them. The actually were commenting on them to each other. The car scored 99.6% for the interior with the only deductions for shoe scuff marks on the kick panels. Scott Tiemann was one of the judges. Is he present at your show?

I'd be happy to text you the photos if you need them.
Bob, as others have already pointed out, the judge is wrong. My 74 looks just like the photos Steve posted. It has its original carpet and seats, with seat tracks, and they bolt through the carpet and have the same black trim piece shown in Steves photos. No change in that mounting process from when your car was built until mine was. Hope you get the judging corrected. That car deserves 100%

How’s the sweet apple pie tonight?

BJ

How and who picks the judges for these shows? I would think there would be a test much like when a millwright applies for a job. They must prove without a doubt they are the best for the job. That is a weird comparison but I think you guys get what I'm saying. Can't help but think there is some "personal" judging happening here, not professional.

I agree, but I believe that the problem is that the judges are volunteers from the hosting club;
it's not like people are flown in to judge.

The show field, as well as the judging, seemed to be a mess.

So the carpet had a cutout on the back one so the bolt went through only one carpet? That makes sense.

Any word yet on awards???

They pay the judges big money to do these shows. 20 to 25 for 8 plus hours of work but you do get a free lunch. Most of the judges do this because they love the cars and try to pass on knowledge for others to improve there cars. At least that’s why I do it.

Well the results are in. The car received a Gold Junior award meaning it scored over 390 out of 400, and can try for a Gold Senior at the next POCI. Four stock class cars scored 399 and they drew straws to determine the winner of the Concours D’elegance award. The Black Car did not receive that recognition nor do I know if it was in the running as they neglected to recognize the other candidates. Score sheets will not be provided for a month at least.

It was a great time and we really enjoyed Wisconsin. Beautiful state and we met some great people and made several new friends.

Life is good.

Grats Bob and MPD !! These seem like the RBW awards they used to do for Camaros. Took 4 3 years to get the total "certification"
Interesting on the score sheets, I guess they avoid confrontation that way...

Congrats Bob. Your team did an amazing job on that car.

You should be quite proud, despite the your allegedly defective carpet installation, Part Deux. ;-)

Thanks so much. We really had a wonderful time. Wisconsin was great - beautiful state and friendly people. Also it was so nice to share something like this with MPD and friends. I appreciate Jeff’s hospitality, and Teri, Sean, Mike and Craig driving up. It was also great getting the car into the sun and natural light. It looked so much better IMO than under the wonky lights at MCACN.
