Default 8-71 Street Kits

Anybody running an 8-71 'Street kit'. How complete are these kits? Any hidden costs beside carbs, fuel lines and throttle linkages? What kind of performance gains did you get? Thanks, Eric.

Was looking at stuff like this. Just want to know if there are any surprises once you start.

You will need to your crank double keyed. Run a hub instead of a balancer. Go bigger than you think you should on the carbs to combat heat. Make sure that crank hub bolt is an L9 or better and torque it to 220 ft lbs. Get an MSD BTM Box to pull timing per lb of boost, run a cam with at least 110 LS...and once you get used to it and start getting bored add twin plates to it

Oh...I picked up a bit over 250 HP with the blower at 5% under and the nitrous gives it another couple hundred...it’s a fun ride!

I run a balancer, I also don’t run a L9 balancer bolt, although I just installed a longer than normal arp balancer bolt an loc-tightn it. I also use 8mm pulleys, arm, ialso if you end up with a BDS kit you will get a idler pulley arm you will need to drill and tap it for a 1/2” set screw to keep the arm from moving!

Thanks for the info. Nice 69. This would also go on a 69GTO. I'm re-doing the GTO this winter and next winter etc. I sure do like those Roots Blowers!

The Torqstrom kit mentioned here also looks interesting. Same price as a set of heads but I bet it's more bang for the buck. ...... Roots have the 'Cool' factor though.
