Another DCI Motorsports pump gas street cruiser
I wanted to share with everyone another pump gas combo in a good client of mine Joe Bass's 1971 Lemans. He is using our street ported DCI RA5 Tunnel Port top end kit on his 455 factory block. It has 10.8 - 1 compression, 250 intake, 259 exhaust @ .050", a single 4150 carburetor, DCI/Mad Dog 2" headers, 3" exhaust, 3.90 gear. Joe drives this on the street regularly. He wanted something unique, but fast. He just got the engine in the car right before the Pontiac Nationals so he hasn't had any time to tune it yet, but it still ran pretty good. It has a slight stumble when he goes WOT so it hurt his 60 foot times some. I think they are 1.68 or 1.69 with the stumble, but still ran 11.teens all weekend. Not to bad for a full interior stock suspension heavy weight on pump gas. This car will run in the 10's once he has a chance to sort it out.

Don-
455 cubic inch or larger? What are the street flow numbers? Would that cam be happy pulling an overdrive at 2200 rpm? |

Around 123 in the quarter. I don't know what it was in the eight. I'll try to find out.

Flow on the intake is 426 at an inch, 382 at .650" with a 2.25 valve. Exhaust 290 at an inch, 265 at .650" with a 1.700 valve. My heads as cast flow right at 400 at an inch.. With our street port work they flow 397 at .700" Cam has 36 degree's overlap so it's just starting to smooth out at that rpm. I would say it would be happy there.

My TA with my first E head motor and a 259/264@ 0.050 roller ran close to that mph and 10.90s in the 1.5 and 6.9s in the 1/8th weighing 3750. So he should be in the 10s when he gets it dialed in for sure.
