Default JUST DON'T KNOW WHAT TO SAY ABOUT THIS ONE

A tribute?, An insult?, A photo Op, Some weird sponsor tie in? Best looking Toyota ever? Some attempt to make NASCAR relevant again? Just not sure.

I guess that's one take on "making lemonade out of lemons"!?

So putting the Fire Chicken on the hood makes it the "perfect tribute"? "The full Firebird look?" Paint it like the ol' #33 Skoal Bandit, which Burt had part ownership of, then you'll have something.

I wouldn't read all that much into it. If they want to do a tribute in a way that makes sense to them, more power to them.

It hurts my heart to see a screaming chicken on the most vanilla car possible. Yeah, I know it shares nothing with the street Camry......but its still a Camry with a bird on the hood.

When they applied that decal they insulted everyone that knows better.
They're also making fools out of everyone that doesn't know any better.

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. I see nothing wrong with it, in fact I think its pretty cool that someone is doing a tribute to Burt. Wouldve been better if they shot a quick coat of black and put some gold stripes on it though.

Like putting the screaming chicken decal on a toyota is going to make anyone that wants to watch NASCAR tune in, or not tune in...… The tribute is to Burt Reynolds, not a Trans Am. The Trans Am has been dead since 2003. I think your confusing a persons legacy, with a cars legacy here. If JJ Yeley was driving a ford instead of a toyota they would have placed it on a ford, and if he were driving a chevy, it would have been on a crapmaro. JJ Yeley is the man behind the tribute, NASCAR didn't dream it up.

As has been mentioned, Mr. Reynolds owned a portion of the Hal Needham, Harry Gant race team so NASCAR is connected to him as a former car owner. He never ran a Trans Am in NASCAR. The #33 car was a buick regal, chevy monte carlo, and a very brief time a Pontiac GP.

While I'm not particularly happy seeing a Firebird hood decal on a toyota either, it's pretty tasteless IMO, but over the years there have been many look a like Firebird hood decals on many race cars that had absolutely no connection to Pontiac. It's hardly the first time. Besides it is only 1 week, and it will be gone forever.

I guess it's the same as the NFL players kneeling during the national anthem, right? They're still doing it though. At least NASCAR got that part right, anyone kneeling during the national anthem would be ejected, never to return to NASCAR events.

I saw it on Facebook. I think everyone is over reacting. This is a driver and team doing something to honor someone who had an impact on their lives.

The Toyota is no more a Camry than the ford is a fusion. It’s all homoligation now anyway. Ford doesn’t make a pushrod V8 anymore. People are complaining about putting some stickers on an aerodynamic piece of sheet metal. Or maybe it’s carbon this year. I’m not sure. Still. I don’t get the outrage. It’s someone who happens to drive for a Toyota sponsor doing something nice in memorandum.

Maybe it's the way it was described. "The full Firebird look"? "This ‘Smokey and The Bandit’ NASCAR is the perfect tribute to Burt Reynolds"? Ain't even close!

Did ya just join PY?

Crapmaro is a fairly common term here, and one of the moderators is one of the first people I ever seen put it in print.

Mature because I used the term as many people here do. I didn't coin the term I recycled it.

Your point is exactly what?

Inquiring minds want to know...……………

I just hate to see someone trying to do something nice for someone they admired get bashed for it.

What in Hades does certain NFL players taking a kneel during the Anthem have to do with this? This is "supposed " to be a tribute, and many of us think it missed the mark, by at least a country mile.
The NFL players are doing a protest, something many of them believe is the right thing to do. Personally, I disagree with their stance, and that is one reason I no longer watch the NFL.
Two completely different subjects, that by no stretch of a normal imagination, can you put together.
