Im pretty sure that factory option spoke wheels were expensive. I remember as a kid when my grandad bought a new caddy (he bought a new one every 2 years) how proud he was of the wire wheels. And this was on a Fleetwood broughm. I wanted to put them on my 82 firebird when I got it but had to go with finned turbo wheels that fit into my budget.

Came back in late last night from the Trans Am Nationals. I drove the car 350 miles each way and loved every minute of it. I was pleasantly surprised to be able to enter it in Concours judging where it received Concours Gold Unrestored. What a shock! It was a great experience.

Thanks to the organizers of the TA Nats, the judges in the Concours program, and all the volunteers that make it possible. The best Firebird show in the country! If you own a bird, make the trip!

Sorry if I am hijacking this thread a bit but I have a 78 Formula that I know was a 400 car but not sure if it was a W72 or W50 car. The VIN is 2U87Z8L14156. I have not sent for PHS because the original engine is long gone and the car has been modified. Is there any other way to tell if it was a W72 and received the W50 package? The car currently has the W50 package on it. It is an automatic car.

There really is no way to tell without the PHS or buildsheet.

Just about all those cars in that timeframe had a Buildsheet tucked into the rear seat springwork.
If someone hasn't already yanked it out ahead of you.

Thanks I will check. Car only has 69k miles on it. The build sheet might still be there.

I always thought that the Ohio plant used Uniroyal tires vs. the California plant using Goodyear.
