Steering damper
Do any of you have this option, is it factory? It looks like it bolts on where power steering arm would be. Sorry, not very good photos. The one bolt is broken that's why it's hanging down.

Difficult to tell from the pics, but looks like it could be the power steering cylinder.

OEM
A steering damper was available on 63 Tempests. The shock mounts to a bracket bolted to the frame and to the steering link by u-bolts. A replacement shock absorber that will fit is availble from Monroe, #SC2914.

Damper was also available on 64/5 Tempest LeMans with manual steering. I have one on my 65.

Yes, my 63 had one ... it worked against a stock PS bracket. Nice design ... occasionally you see one on a 63 ... not sure that it came from the factory that way. I might have some pictures some place, Also, 63 - 67 Corvettes all used one. John

IIRC we still have the Factory Damper removed from the '63 Tempest.
This car was a non-power car. I'll see if I can locate it.
