Canton 15-389 oil pan
I have one of these pans on my 461 stroker. The dipstick reads full but I still get oil pressure drop on hard right turns. The pan has a baffle but I am thinking that maybe I don't have enough oil in it. I have seen anywhere from 5 to 6 quart capacity posted for this pan. Any you guys using this pan? How much oil are you putting in?
Thanks, Ralph

Canton states 5 qt "System" Capacity. If you contact Canton they will tell you that amount includes the oil inside the filter. Then you should consider how much is up inside the engine under running conditions.

I ended up w 7+ 1 in the filter if its the same canton road race pan I have. Especially with the amount of oil that hangs around in the top of my engine w the E heads.

The baffle on a stock type pan does very little on a hard right hand turn, especially.
Road Race type pans are much better for oil control on turns. You can buy a remote oil reservoir that adds oil to the engine if it senses low pressure in the block. Unless you add one of those two parts, you will always have issues on turns. https://www.ebay.com/i/321798208492?chn=ps Personally I would use the road race pan vs "add-on" a bandaid system. Drag racers sometimes need a proper pan and the accusump system Tom V.
