I have a nice, loaded, rust-free 70 GTO convertible that has some minor fender damage. I would gladly pay $1200 for an NOS fender for the car. This has nothing to do with somebody asking $18k for a GTO convertible needing a complete rebody. Now, kindly regale us with your actual evidence of a rusted-out, clapped-out average GTO needing a re-body selling for $15-20k. Ring up your hipster pals and get their stories. Or put on your sunglasses and skinny jeans and talk to them in person. We all know if a car is advertised for a certain amount, by golly, that's what it will sell for, right? Actual market value be damned.

This is flawed because I can show you 20 late 70’s TA’s for sale for 20k plus. All you have to do is say you don’t think they are worth that and unless I have proof of what they sold for then I am wrong.
Everyone is free to have their opinion. |

Just because someone pays a high asking price doesn't mean the product wasn't overpriced to begin with. People are weird and if they have lots of money will often spend it on stupid chit just because they want it.
I'm pretty convinced that if I wanted to buy a nicely finished musclecar for a reasonable price I should attend a Barrett Jackson auction. I always see cars that have probably $60k+ spent on them selling for half that at those auctions.

I paid $6K for my '68 in about the same condition or maybe a bit better. Pics of both 'as bought'. I paid $5K for my '66.

Allow me to submit a "real world" selling price...Sold today on Ebay via auction.
1969 GTO Ram Air III, numbers matching. Complete car, intact. Badly rusted body, but solid underneath. $7322. Not $20k. Not $30k. https://www.ebay.com/itm/1969-Pontiac-GTO/163375997063 Maybe someone on this thread bought it and will list it for $30k.... Oh, and that blue '69 with the white top is a $5-6k car.

I am driving in the rain, at night, running errands, with the kids who are eating and having ice cream in the back, after going to the drag strip, burning rubber, and blowing donuts. Do you really think it's numbers matching all original?" |

No pictures or info about the few pedigree cars mentioned, but pictures mostly of what looks like a whole lot of junk. In order to buy the few cars worth buying(maybe, based on pedigree only), you have to buy a whole bunch of junk that you now have to deal with as well. Looks like about a $75k collection to me.

No tire kickers=Don't look just buy.
Stupidest line you can add when trying to sell anything, fastest way to turn off potential buyers. |
