Just curious how many are running the original STOCK motor with how many miles. My 67 has 90k on it and runs great with no smoke. I've been running 93 octane for the short time its been back on the road, couple hundred miles at best.

The 70 NM engine/trans was pulled and set aside , since the goal was street/ strip. If the goal changes to daily driver with DQ cruising the original can go back in.

I had a '77 Grand Prix SJ with a 400. I got 180,000 out of it, sold it to a friend in my car club who drove it to about 230,000 or 240,000. He pulled the engine to save and junked the car. Neither of us could check the oil because the dipstick tube rotted out at about 160,000 so we just changed the oil about every 3000 and it never used a drop. It always ran absolutely perfect, stand a nickel on the air cleaner perfect, which was amazing because the throttle shaft was so whipped out you could move it sideways 1/8" - 3/16". We both still miss that car.

I have the 326 from my 67 FB sitting in the garage. It was running, with ~ 135k when I pulled it.
My 72 Lemans came with a 350, which is currently installed in my Firebird. THAT motor was sitting uncovered out in a yard, with an oil pan full of rain water. So yes, in a roundabout way, I have both of my original engines. ![]()

I have a 67 Firebird 326 HO . The car has 26,800 original miles. The only thing ever changed on the motor other than tune up parts has been the fuel pump.

I pulled my car's original H.O. engine in 1985 when it was still running good, and have it stored in the barn. It will be re-installed when I finally mature and stop abusing things -- no date in sight yet.

My 1964 GP has original 421 but speedo stopped at about 96,000 miles 10 years ago so I don't know exact mileage. Runs very well but you can tell it's loose . No smoke though.

Had a 76 full size clamshell SW that was a salesmans car and I bought it from the parent company with a blown T400. It had right around 150,000 on it when I got it and my X wife drove it for 2 years, sold it to her father and he used it to haul his window cleaning ladders around. The body got so rusty he retired it and sold it to a wrecking yard. I was pissed because it was a 455 and I wanted the engine back. He drove it to the wrecking yard still running just fine with 170,000 on it.

Had a 66 421 Tri-power 9 passenger wagon for 19 years. Original engine, maintenance and rebuilt the carburetors, valve cover gaskets stuff like that. Sold with 190K miles. No mechanical issues. Frame completely rusted out. Used to haul family and 3500 lb. 19 ft Sea Ray boat all over the Midwest. Did replace plastic timing set. Good times.
