Did you know? 6 cyl info
Here's some info I ran into looking for something else...
A 6 cylinder engine operating for 10,000 miles... •. The contact points open and close 90 million times. •. Distributor shaft rotates 15 million times. •. Each plug will also fire 15 million times unless it misfires. •. The coil will send 90 million charges of approx 15,000 volts each on average. •. The poor carburetor will mix 2, 810,000 cubic feet of air with 625 gallons of gas. I bet it's tired from that. Moral of this story, stay up on the maintenance intervals. |

And the most important 2 things are to keep clean oil in them since during most of those 10,000 miles the oil bypass valve will be open so your running mainly unfiltered oil thru the motor, and also in those 10,000 miles do not let the motor run hot!

Think about this.
If you drive 60 MPH at 2000 rpm for 10,000 miles, the crankshaft has rotated 20,000,000 times. Each piston has came to a dead stop and reversed it's direction 40,000,000 times. Each valve has opened and closed 10,000,000 times. Just think how tired those stock cast rods must be after just 10,000 miles. Now at 100,000 miles those rods and pistons have cycled 400,000,000 times, and the valves have opened and closed 100,000,000 times. You still want to reuse those rods, pistons, valves and valve springs when you freshen up the engine? Just think what the math would be when driving those miles at 3000 RPM's.

The one I like is a top fuel engine running at 10000 rpm rotates only about 500 revolutions in 1/4 mile.

And the top fuel motor gets a fuel milage of 6 gallons per 1/4 mile, lol!
