Ok here’s how it works sorry if this is long.
First you need a wagon I am using a 1966 tempest wagon, 64-67 GM A body wagons (except for the vista cruiser and Buick sport wagon) have the same wheelbase as the 2 and 4 door hardtop and sedans. So that means that the body line is the same no matter what combination of doors is used. Some of the differences between a wagon and a 2 dr hardtop for 66-67 are the windshield angle the full length drip rail 64-65 wagons are the same as their other 2and 4 dr variations and don’t have the full length drip rails. In my opinion a 64-65 2dr sedan wagon is the easiest conversion to pull off. The conversion goes as followed First remove the B pillar once that is gone you can then bolt on the hardtop doors (the vent windows will have to be changed to possibly a 65 style or make a custom one using a 66-67 4 dr HT front section with the lower and rear from a 66-67 2 drht with custom glass) door glass may also need to be swapped or modified. Next up is the quarter window sections These come from a donor car what you need is a piece from the windshield about 8 inches in from the drip rail cut all the way back to about 6 inches in front of the sail panel and then straight down through the center of the wheelwell. Next cut in front of the leading edge of the door jam through the rocker then cut back through the floor( make sure that you don’t cut the lower part of the inner structure the holds the window tracks and regulator) Then cut up through the the inner wheel well and over to the cut from the wheelwell. Now you have all the parts you will need to do the conversion. I bought a spare section to experiment with because it was easier to experiment with. To fit the lower sections you will first have to remove the rear door jamb area, cut just shy of the lip where the quarter panel is. Then either cut or drill the spotwelds along the inner panel do not remove this inner panel as it will be part of the new support structure. Now that this area is opened up you can start to fit the new section, you will do this by trial and error (this is why I got a spare section to experiment with) there is a lot of trimming and fitting but it will all line up. Now you have a door jamb you can fit to the door don’t weld anything in yet. Now the roof line first remove the drip rail leave the first 6 inches at the windshield end take it off all the way to the tailgate. Next remove the inner section of the upper door jamb area the inner part of this is where the pinch molding holds the headliner cut this all the way to the rear door. One issue that will have to be addressed is the roof of the wagon is a little longer in the front than the 2dr you will also need the inner windshield posts from a 4 drht or just some cutting and welding of the wagon parts. The rest of this is just fitting the 2dr upper section just like the lower lots of cutting and trimming. And patience.

Way beyond my skill set. But just because I can’t sing doesn’t mean I don’t like the music. Awesome project!

Awesome project! You might as well go all in with a 389 Tri-Power 4spd drive train...

That is a cool project. It's a good thing I'm not a welder or have the room in my garage.... the Warden would kill me.
Are you going to add all the GTO hardware to the front end?

I am very sorry to report, that, Chris, AKA GTOWAGON has passed away.
I hope this project continues to a new owner in his memory.
