Default Today was last day,Finally retired.

Worked for the state for the past 25 yrs in materials inspection. Previously I was self employed with my father in construction, approx 25 yrs. Now I'm working on SD for Gettsyburg. Plus starting back swimming laps and physical fitness. The past couple of weeks my cat Poncho has been having facial problems.Eating well, etc, etc. This am he looked very weak. So I suggested to wife call vet.The vet said cancerous but not painful, in the face, usually with white faced cats.So we decided to have mercy. He raised his paw right before the vet ejected him. Thinking he was saying thank you. So today has been a mixed blessing. Ponch is safe no more pain and I'm retired. Oh one last thing ,I was informed a few minutes ago the dryer quit! Sooo try to fix that.

Congrats on retiring Bob. Won't be long and you'll be back doing something like many do. I admit it... I can't sit still in the house and need the money to keep the GTO going.

Sorry to hear about your cat Poncho. We had to put down 2 cats. One in 2017 and the second one last September. The one we lost last September was 18 years old. The one before was a least 20. They lasted longer than the 2 dogs we had. Don't take it wrong, I do like dogs, but deep down I'm a cat person.

Sorry about your loss. My wife and I know that feeling all too well. We had to have our cat and dog put down the same day. It was 15 years before we got another pet. I hope he outlives me! Congratulations on retirement. I retire for the third and last time on February 6th 2019. Lastly I have to ask, what is SD. I know Gettysburg well being from Hagerstown, Md. and very interested in history.

Bob, congrats on retiring well, and perhaps a pet dog can be managed with all the home time you now got.

Thank you all. I have a list, the 7 yr electric dryer quit.ive got it completely apart ckg all parts. My 14 hp,1974 cub cadet garden tractor, lawn mower has what I believe is stuck exhaust valve, fires out exhaust no power. My push mower needs some care wont run. So I'm 'dancing' trying fix dryer first. I try to repair everything before I buy new.

Condolences on the loss of your pet. I know what that is like.

In regards to retiring I left the company I worked at for 38 years last September. Some have a difficult time transitioning, not me. I am so busy now I don't know how I found time to work! The biggest change is I have more control of my time and a lot less stress. You would think I would have time to work on the cars everyday but not so. I do get more time in the garage but I also have other activities and responsibilities. I took on tasks that I was paying others to do while I was working due to my limited free time. I also have other hobbies, I enjoy dirt bikes, boating, camping, etc. Important to spend some of that free time on improving your health. I have more time for the gym and have actually lost 10 pounds because I spend a lot less time sitting at a desk!
