77 TA Hard to steer to the right
Gang,
I got the old bird back on the road this weekend. I am noticing after all of the front end tear down and rebuild that the steering is difficult to the right but much easier to the left. Prior to the rebuild the steering was great. Some background: The entire front end of this car was disassembled, Every nut and bolt has been removed on the front end of this car, all the bushing in the front end replaced, new upper ball joints (lower ones re-used they were essentially new). The steering rack was taken apart cleaned up painted and put back together the tie rods were in good shape as were all the other pieces. I also put in a rebuild power steering pump. Everything was properly lubricated. I turned in the drivers outer tie rod as it was pointing out. While driving it does go straight on its own. However turning is labored going right (like there is no power steering) but more of what I would expect for a power steering car turning left. Thoughts, suggestions?

I assume you mean the steering box was taken apart.
I would definitely put the emphasis on the box if the alignment and tire pressure are within specs.

The steering box was disconnected from the rack at the pitman arm, it was then removed from the frame, cleaned, painted and put back on. It never came apart. what i took apart was the steering rack (tie rods, center link, idler arm, etc)

First thought is maybe you need to bleed the power steering some more. Might still have some air in it.

Pour the grease to all 4 ball joints. Don't be stingy, let the excess run on the ground and pour some more to them, even then!!!

Well the culprit was the gear box mounted to the frame. Turns out it was worn out. Replaced it and its all good now.
