Default Looking at a 68 LeMans

I am considering purchasing a 68 that I have a chance to buy locally so looking for thoughts on a good price and info.

I saw it in person a couple years ago and the car is in great driver condition. No rust issues, all pans and panels are good. I will have to verify rockers when I see it again.
Originally a burgandy or red that has been painted black, black bucket interior, Original 350 rebuilt and cammed, and 2 speed auto, good drive anywhere condition.

I think a 68 Lemans is one of the best cars ever with a 350 in it. I had two of them over the years. Not enough power to break anything, but enough to make it very driveable. And not all the baggage that goes with a GTO

Did you pick-up the Lemans? I highly recommend one!

How are those 2 speed transmissions? I don't think I've ever driven one. I know all the 1/8th mile drag racers around here want powerglides.

Hard to give a price on a car we haven't seen and know nothing about...but having said that, if it's a solid driver, '68s are great cars as long as you don't need a lot of parts. That gets me to the downside... it was a changeover year and there are many items that are '68 only and not reproduced.
In case you didn't get the hint...POST SOME PICS!...

In average everyday street driving I never really noticed the powerglide, car went when I pressed the pedal, no drama, would kick down nice when you put your foot in it. Just felt a little revvy at the upper end of highway speeds and a little tall off the start ... which would be normal for a two speed. Can't speak to high performance applications, but as a around town driver just fine.

The biggest drawback of the powerglide is when passing at highway speeds, either it drops all the way to 1st and revs really high or it stays in drive and you have weak acceleration. the three speed automatic has that intermediate gear that gives you more passing pickup at normal highway speeds.

I was never clear on the Powerglide ..whether it went back to first ... or did some kind of pressure change to the converter to make it slip more ... if that is even possible.

And technically, the two speed behind Pontiac motors through 1969 was the Super Turbine (turd) 300. Had very little in comparison to the Powerglide besides the two forward gears. I believe Powerglides came to Pontiac starting in 1970. Had a ST300 behind my Sprint 6 in my 67 Bird and one currently behind my 350 2 bbl in my 68 LeMans.
