1960 Ventura Pontiac's stored since 1975
WOW. I can't believe how time has flown by. I pretty much forgot about this site so I think it's time for an update on my two 60 Ventura's. I had several postings in the past on these cars but I'll start a new thread here with video links if I can get them to work out.
I moved into a new home shortly after purchasing these two cars in 2015 so they both went back into storage. I inspected the gray car very closely and found that it had a U bend throughout the belly of the car and rear package tray area from the heavy impact that left the car beyond rebuilding within reasonable costs. Sadly the gray car has since been cut up for any salvageable parts. I have sorted through all the parts in order to us the best stuff for the red car. I will be selling what I don't need. A few years ago I posted questions looking for information about PHS on these cars but no PHS on the 1960 models. Just to catch everyone up on my research into the red car, here's the info. I found the matching vin number on the lower front corner of the block so I decided I had to save the original engine if possible. I also found the A1 stamp that indicates this engine is a 389 with 10.25-1 compression, 2 barrel, automatic. The 6 pack intake and carbs have markings that indicate that they are late 1959. I'm told that this was a popular install with the high compression engine to try-power carb swaps. As for the 8 lug wheels. I found the date stamps on the inside of the rims and they match the date codes of the car so they may or may not be factory installed but they are correct dates. I started a YouTube channel and I have been documenting the red cars reassembly. He's the first couple of video / slide shows. Updating the fuel system and brakes. I was lucky to be able to save one of the gas tanks.

I don't want to put the front fenders back on with all the damage and rust. The one fender was poorly repaired with a tin can. Check it out...

In this video link. I'll cut away the rust and heavy damage to the front fenders. Welding in patches and smoothing out the dents for filler. https://youtu.be/ysvZPtRMz40

I happened across your videos on Youtube before seeing you post them here, it looks like a fun project.
Interestingly, there were a series of videos from a different fellow a couple years ago about another 1960 Pontiac barn find - this is the first one on his car: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lgoyvqjgoZY Unfortunately he didn't organize them in a playlist so you have to sort through his whole list of videos to find the Pontiac ones. |

I have seen a few of his videos. He has some pretty good content. I'm fairly new at the YouTube stuff. My prior threads have been with photos and descriptions but I was using PhotoBucket and that site is holding all of my photos hostage for a monthly fee so I have moved on to YouTube. I try to do more of a show and tell with this TECH Thread now that I have lots of info about this car.

The first video is my attempt at getting ready to start the 389 TriPower. The second is me actually starting the engine with all it's glory and failure.
