Nitrous for charge cooling.
Maybe I'm crazy,but couldn't you use a 50-100hp shot of nitrous to cool your turbo boost charge during a run?couldn't you also use it to keep lag down and help your 60ft?I'm guessing fuel air distribution in the intake would be ok.

If its in your intake track you're gonna need to add fuel with it if you ask me.. I know they do have dry shots. But its not N/A . You're mixing boost with it. . Theres already pressure in the manifold. Now you're adding more with the nitrous . Jmo..

Yes,I should have been more specific.I was talking about the correct mix of nos and fuel running thru a plate.under the carb.

Probably wouldn't even need a 50hp shot to spool the turbos, use an adjustable vacuum switch or full throttle switch to turn the nitrous on, and another adjustable boost activated switch to turn the nitrous off at a boost level above where the turbo starts making boost.
These systems were popular over here a long time back on small 4 pot engines with big turbos - 15-20 hp shot would instantly spool the turbo, you could use a 500hp turbo on a 2 litre engine without any turbo lag. Dave Vizard did an article on this in a Brit magazine back in the late '80's, I have a copy somewhere. There was a 2 litre Cosworth Pinto powered MK1 Ford Escort running 10's at our local strip two years back, street driven too with a manual trans. |

I use a 60hp dry shot on my twin turbo blow thru street car to help spool and cool the intake charge. I have a single fogger nozzle just ahead of the carb.

Do you use it for the full pass or turn it off as it gets into spool?

I usually leave it on for the full pass. Was using it to spool for awhile but lately I've played with the tune and got it to spool quicker so I just turn it on just after I leave. As small of a shot that it is, it doesnt really change the AFR on my car. Combo is: 400 block. 4.18 bore, 4" stroke. #96 heads. Icon dished pistons, h-beam rods. Comp cams solid flat tappet. Home built logs with cheap Ebay GT45's. CSU blow thru on e85. Been 9.14@153 in my street driven 71 TA @3650 lbs. Hopefully get in the 8's this wknd.

Also I run a 3.10 rear gear and only turn it around 6000 rpm. Our track is at 5600 ft elevation. (Albuquerque dragway) and corrected elevation the day I ran that was about 7800'.

I'm using pump e85. I was on race gas with an air-air intercooler. When I switched to e85 I removed it. Its truly a basic, cheap setup that seems to run well. Had alot of people say the ebay turbos are junk. I've been beating on this thing for over 2 years without any problems. Ive used ebay turbos on sandrails for years and have had only 1 fail. No doubt that I could make more power with better turbos and I'm in the process of building an IAII,billet bottom end, Edelbrock headed, Precision turbo engine now but it just goes to show that it doesnt take a ton of money to build good power with turbos. I'd be happy to share more info to anyone who's interested. I'd love to see more turbo Pontiac street cars running around.
