Sorry, I thought that the Mallett was the ultimate, but this seems similar. Would this be just an LS conversion, or are there proprietary chassis parts and such that make a significant difference?

Sorry, did I miss the part where the Mallet conversion is for sale? Follow the link and read the vehicle description.

I love the Solstice and would like very much to own one someday. I was scrolling through the no reserve auctions and came across this land yacht.

I am Biased towards a Mallet conversion (as I own one) but Check has not modified a Solstice or Sky sense 2008 as far as I know. And there are less than 100 total conversion made. So they are somewhat Rare. (don't believe the often quoted 100 cars per year for 3 years they did not make 100 let alone 300 conversions)
Performance Autowerks is 1 of 2 companies I know of today that are currently offering conversions for the Solstice and Sky. There early conversions left alot of room for improvement IMO, but the the cars being made for the last couple of years are better. Almost up to the Standard of Mallet Conversions. They look to have a more professional air intake on them now, the early car I saw just had a K&N Cone filter attached to the Throttle Body. The car in the auction has a much better looking installation,

Pontiac was thinking of the V-8 in the Solstice. When I was at the September, 2018 Pontiacs With A Purpose show in Rhode Island there was a Solstice on the show field. It was a Pontiac Engineering experiment that survived. The car had an LS-3 in the engine compartment. Check it out in the February, 2019 edition of Poncho Perfection. There is a picture of the hood open on page 56 in the lower left hand corner.

I wouldn't be able to get and out of it much less drive it! I'll bet that thing gets downright squirrely under power. Good luck finding bumpers, fenders, hood , etc. when it all goes wrong.
I am thinking it will go just north of $15K.

The ultimate Solstice was the Hot Rod car. I helped build that at the Advanced Vehicle Integration Shop , AVI, at GM. This was a monster. It had a lot of engineering in it. I am a technician for GM at the Warren Tech Center. That car flat out flew. It was one of the most fun projects I got to work on so far in my 30 years at GM. I like yours Cammer Jeff. I remember when you were looking at it. I was in the Royal Pontiac Club with you. I had the white 1986 Grand Prix and my kids had the black 97 GTP and gold 86 Fiero when we raced at Milan during our club days. GM had a book on the Solstice, on the road racing mods and in the back was an article on the Hot Rod car. Even though they did not build it. I have a copy of it somewhere.

With regard to you guys all claiming other conversions are the ultimate Solstice, you're all wound a little too tight. Any LS transplanted Solstice qualifies as the Ultimate Solstice. We're not talking factory mule here, we're talking a bread and butter conversion you can by with significant driveline, appearance and comfort upgrades.

Regardless. It's still a cool car. Worth the 15k it at now.

I agree any V8 Solstice or Sky if done well are very fun and nice driving cars. I don't care for the interior mods done to this car, but it is well worth the less than $16,000 it is bid up to at this time. Also the ad says it has A/C, but I do not see the Compressor or lines under the hood. But there are not very detailed underhood shots. They probably paid over $20,000 for the conversion including the Tremec 6-speed.

If anybody is interested I listed a NOS Solstice GM ECU (computer) for sale. It is a brand new GM computer for a 2007 GXP, never plugged in, never altered in any way, brand new still in the GM box from 2007. A family member bought a new 2007 GXP and the spare ECU was going to be re-flashed for performance but they never did so, ended up trading the car in towards a new Shelby GT500 convertible. PM me if interested. Thank You.

Hello Jeff, no I sold the GP in 2008 and last year bought a 1976 Firebird from a member on here. I am building a more healthy 455 for it. I have to teach my grand kids what fun a Pontiac is.

Looks like the car sold for more than $29,000, very good price for that car, I have later learned that this car was the 1st V8 conversion done by Performance Autoworks
