I have been to a lot of car museums all over the country, Gilmore is def one of the best. Its located on a very large farm, and the museum itself if divided into many different buildings in a community type layout. They have a couple of re-created period dealerships one Lincoln, I think a Cadillac, and an early Ford. They have one building dedicated to just hood ornaments! A diner that actually serves food. Its def. worth a trip. Its located out in the middle of nowhere(IMO) but again, worth the trip.

Gilmore Car Museum is looking to erect a new building dedicated to the Muscle car with ground breaking in the Summer of 2020 and the new building scheduled to open in 2021.

I've traveled to the Red Barns at Hickory Corners twice to attend shows with my dad (RIP). It was well worth the trip and there were plenty of cars to see and a wonderful location in Hickory Corners. On those trips, we also took in the Auburn, Cord and Duesenberg Museum in Auburn, IN and the Studebaker National Museum in South Bend, IN. I can tell from their website that it has expanded since I was last there (which tells me I need to go again).

But it isn't even the biggest car collection in the United States. Gilmore's website says they have 400 cars on display, that's about 100 short of the LeMay Collection in Tacoma, WA. One I'd really like to get into is the GM Heritage Center in Sterling Heights, MI - which has about 100 more than the LeMay Collection - but it's not open to the public.

Champ,

The GM Heritage Center is well worth the trip (I've been there three times; the last time was last July), but there are not 600 cars on display at one time. There might be that many in the collection, but there are about 150 on display at any one time.

Aaron

Which makes it worth going to multiple times - to see which of the 600 are on display...
