1969 Firebird Rear LICENSE PLATE bracket - ADVICE
Well I realize from these forums that the 1969 Firebird license bracket for the rear is a 1 year only item; and difficult to source used judged by those with want ads for one.
Anyone here have a used one for sale? ;-) Or can anyone post photos of their original bracket on and or off their 1969 Firebird? Now I see The Parts Place sells a bracket they claim is correct for a 1969 Firebird -- BUT also fits and is for a 1969 to 1972 GTO. https://www.ebay.com/itm/69-72-Ponti...r/331102583345 Is this true? What is not correct on it for a 69 Firebird? Anyone try their part? And can anyone comment if this mounting bracket part they sell came originally on 1969 Firebirds to mount the license plate bracket? I don't see it in any photos from the GM manual. https://www.ebay.com/itm/69-Pontiac-...r/331414028099 Photos and advice appreciated. Also, if anyone has an original 1969 Firebird rear license bracket to sell, let me know. Thanks. |

Not sure if that is factory or not but I needed to use that exact bracket to space the hinge away from the body when I installed my license plate bracket/ gas tank cover

I have the original on our car, currently in a deep hibernation for the next five months. I may be able to get a few pictures for you but it will be a couple days. It is currently installed, no intentions on removing it.

If the plate holder you have is a "9796286", you have an original. It should be stamped on the flat surface.

I'm surprised they don't reproduce it. There is enough of those around with 1 1/2 years of production.

No idea what ones worth. To be fair, I'd put it out on e-bay and give everyone a fair shot at it including myself.

would a 69 Camaro license plate bracket work? I don't care about it being 100% orginal.

That's what most of us run who can not find a correct one. It will work, but will be at an incorrect angle and placement.

I ordered the classic industries part we'll see how it is. I needed to put one on my convertible so I can get my original back on my car, as long as it fits properly I'll be happy, but pic looked correct. We'll see.

Just wanted to report on the classic industries part they claim to be original and correct. ITS NOT. It’s a camaro part you can buy for half the price from the camaro reproduction companies.
Total POS and this company refuses to respond to emails or calls about it or take it as a return. Deceptive marketing. I’ll never buy anything from them again. When I buy something I wanna know if it’s correct or not.

I'm still holding my breath for one too. Maybe someday Firebird Central that has been saying for years "coming soon" will be made available.
