That’s preproduction at the plant for sure. Wasn’t production first or second week of August?
My 71 Judge Vin is like in the 1k and it’s a 8c car.

I assume that is for the Pontiac Michigan plant and satellite plants came on line after that as the launch team became available. K

Thanks PT
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Car was already approx 5 months old and had already had some other form of PMD Duty/Service -- BEFORE this invoice to ENG-DEV 35-998 as a used vehicle with 30% depreciation in November 1970. This isn't Invoice #1 for this car. fwiw Probably assigned to Marketing Pool or Show Car Pool before this invoice. And - even - also , it possibly originally began at birth with ENG-DEV sector before going into one of those departments. - aka this might have been its second tour with ENG-DEV which could make this actually Internal Invoice #3. Just a possible scenario - fwiw If a Buildsheet is ever found within car it would tell where it was supposed to start life after assembly was finished. 30% is usually the amount of discount they gave Dealers AFTER all PMD Duty was finished. So it probably sold by bids by the time it finally became available for dealer purchase. Around half or less of original dealer net price. Were any Red 4speed Judges used in promo literature or early magazine tests ? |

I examined this car before it went to auction. I have followed 71’s very closely for years.
With a second week of June build date (06B) I do believe this to be the first 71 judge built. Sun City also had a Quezal Gold 71 Judge up for auction and they claimed that to be the last Judge built. Not a chance on that one. They basically claimed to have the first and the last one built but not the case on the latter. Especially now since the orbit 71 has surfaced as being the last. The red car had the original trans and rear but that is about it when it comes to originality. It was just a two bolt 455 that literally had just been rebuilt before it went to auction. The car needed to be completely re-done and it was three different shades of red. Cool car but not very nice. The Quezal car was an absolute rot box that had so much filler in it you could barely lift the hood. That car did pretty good money at the auction so obviously the buyer had no idea what he was in for. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

PMD VIN # 100115 GTO Judge Show Car has a broadcast date of Aug 24 1970
It was one of the Lucy Blue ""patterns" I don't have the body build /cowl date recorded. Likely 1st week of production though, being #115 maybe Day 1 or Day 2 |

BVZ, did you notice the Dealer Order # on the P100019 PHS?
(000058) About like a "Pattern Judge' in 1969?

But they do have a type of pattern to their order numbers that give relationships to their type of inception [pilot] - it seems. The 1971 Lucy Blue early production show/display cars sort of have a "pattern-type" in their order numbers that seems a similarity to 69. 71 LucyBlue Show/Display #P100115 for Zone 03 = order# 030007 71 LucyBlue Show/Display #Z100863 for Zone 14 = order# 140007 Last edited by Baron Von Zeppelin; 01-07-2020 at 03:50 PM. |

UncleJudge, Did P100115 have pwr door locks/seat back locks & AM-FM mono?
Been too long, it seems it gained a custom sport wheel bwhen it was restored can't remember a PHS copy being put up for it near 15 years ago when it went up for sale.

Looks like 08C Roger. No power locks or seat back releases. AM/FM Mono. No Formula or sport wheel either. Correct early hood.

Got me looking at some 71 PHS'
Here's an interesting one: (possibly owned by someone on PY) The Dealer Order # is 400011 Zone 40 is possibly for overseas zone. The PHS has 2 dealers on it, Van Winkle Motor then to Pete Ganis

I don't have very many Invoices for 71 Judges . Might be worthwhile sometime to try a new witch-hunt thread for Early Blue and Early Red cars. 71's are getting even more interesting lately. a Pilot, a Grande Finale OO , and a low mile WT7 Documenting more evidence of a firm pattern-type on Early Blue's would be cool . |
