Based on what information I could find for the List. http://www.magneticlynx.com/carfor/pont_list.htm Chief was about 80 lbs lighter and his engine was 23 ci smaller.
It is interesting that some people have Tommy racing someone who is not even at the track. LOL As good as Tommy ran lets not lose sight that in E2 the #1 Q ran 206 MPH. That is a huge amount of HP difference in an 1/8 race. Stan

FWIW......Justin is THE guy (for door cars) he set the bar pretty high, when your no.1 racers will always be going after you.......it’s what drag racers do! My gosh we have 3 sec. door cars, we’ve broken the 6 sec and 250 mph barriers......how cool! That’s what it’s about!

But when you are at a race you have to race the cars that are there. Justin was not at this race and if he was I don't see him being the #1 Q. JMO Stan PS Let me add - I don't want to come across as sounding like a Negative Nellie about Tommy's car. Based on the video of Tommy's car on the hub dyno (3,355 horsepower and 2,933 lb-ft). I see it having the potential to run very low 3.9x @ over 200 MPH in Pro275.

Success can give you a new problem in class racing. Chris Accors is a friend of mine. He pretty much does all of Andy Manson's work. They poured a ton of money and effort for years chasing a championship. When they finally got it the sanctioning body changed body rules on them after they had been running it for 2 seasons. All because the other people in the class complained when they won it all. Big kick in the nuts.

I didn’t want to jinx Tommy yesterday so I kept my thoughts to myself. I’m not superstitious, I’m just superstitious.
Any who. That GTO was a sight to see. It ran like it was on a rope and it looked effortless. Tommy’s reaction times appeared excellent as well. Tommy was killing it in the right lane, I figured it might be trouble and it was, when he got the left in that round, he spun and the guy in the offer lane killed it. Damn good day to be a Pontiac guy! That is one of the baddest radial races in the country and Tommy was in a very competitive class. It was cool to watch. I wish him continued success. |

Tommy Youmens 4.10 first qualifying pass
It is true Justin ran 3.99 in the Crowmod (fiberglass firebird) back when he went Pro Mod racing, BUT he ran another 3.99 @ 188 in Marty P’s old steel 70 vin tag GTO at Bandimere (mile high) on no prep at 2820 lbs on M1 fuel only with no additives...with Eheads and a cast block... This is straight from Justin Shearer so every time you try to belittle Justin (Chief) by saying he was super light or did it in the old Crowmod only or whatever this post will be there as a reminder that a junk dinosaur set of old Eheads in a steel car with a factory roof line and vin is getting it done like the newest wiz bang stuff out there...

GTO George,
First go back and read your own post before you say you never said. Second I don't race now but was racing before you even could drive. Third you are only a bracket racer and nothing about heads up racing. Stan
