Like many stories, there is always another chapter. My name is Tim Schuetz and I had just purchased this car from Chris. It safely arrived yesterday afternoon.
I first became aware of Chris's car after he advertised it last year. When the thread was brought back to the top about a month ago, I reached out to Chris to see if he still had the car. He in fact did and told me he was going to reattempt to sell the car, but was laying low through the Covid-19 thing. In the last few weeks, Chris and I have spoken quite a bit. In fact, I think I would be fair to say we have spent about 10 hours on the phone. Certainly a fair amount talking about the TA, but also plenty of BS about cars and life. I really enjoyed the time talking to Chris, and feel I have gained a friend in it all. Chris's representation of the car was brutally honest and transparent. Between all of the emails, pics, links, and discussion, I felt comfortable to purchase the car sight unseen (something I swore off). I also found that Chris and I have many of the same philosophies about a car like this. Now that the car is here and I have been able to spend some time with it, I can say the car is everything it was represented to be. Survivor type cars are a fickle beast. Many people cannot look past or appreciate some of the "birth marks" an original car has. As many of you know, this car like many has a few stories to it. Thankfully, the previous owners have told the stories (good and bad) that would otherwise get kicked under the carpet. To you Chris............thank you! You have proven there are still some good people in the hobby. That is what makes the hobby enjoyable. Moving forward, I am going to pick up where you have left off. Maintain, preserve, and enjoy. While I have some other cars, this particular TA checks off so many boxes for me. I love original cars! I love low production cars! I love fast cars! One more additional shout out...... Fred from Williams Classic Auto Transport. Fred did everything he said he was going to, on time or ahead of what was promised. He was more than fair, and felt he treated the car very well (he also had a Bugatti in the trailer. If anyone is interested his number is 610.823.6125. From California to northern Wisconsin in 5 days. Here are a few pics from yesterday............... Tim |

Hi Tim,
Welcome, and congrats on acquiring a very neat car! It's probably happy to be back home in the Great Lakes region, too (although it could not have asked for a better caretaker in Chris!)

Here and there this week, I have been fiddling with the TA. I got on top of the cold start transition issue with the carb, as well as solving (I think) the engine run on.
I also had a chance to get it on the hoist and look around. Once I get cleaning on this car, I really think it is going to respond well. Here is what I found.......... Remaining evidence from when the car was raced and flat towed. The tail light harness plug the Wayne made and wired in as well as the remaining welds from the tow bar mounts. Wayne had a Liberty transmission in the car (hence why the original case survived) and obviously a big shifter. Here are a bunch in the engine compartment as well as under the car. I'll update as I progress with cleaning...... |

I got around to the first stage of chassis cleaning yesterday. This will prove to be a very gratifying piece of work.........

Radiator tag
Can anyone tell me if this radiator is correct? FR code with a 3 core tanks. The IA and CV are correct for the manual transmission, but the FR is not according to the assembly manual. With such few options should this be an FF or FP? Any help is appreciated!

That was my car when that picture of the radiator and tag was taken, and I believe they are original to the car. Per the 1971 service manual, that is the correct radiator.

I pulled the front speaker in my 71 this morning, to find it only has 1 wire going to it? So it grounds through the frame of the speaker?
I cannot say I have seen that before if it is correct. There does not appear to be any other wires available like there is on the rear speaker. I just wanted to ask the obvious and stupid question before I send the speakers out to be rebuilt. In advance, thanks for the consideration. Tim |

That is probably the correct stamping for your year.

Try Joe Vijil
Try Joe Vijil in Southern California, 626*264*7233. I've bought stereo equipment from him for the last 20 years. Joe is a friend of mine and you won't find a more decent guy around, nor will you find better concours restored radios and other car audio equipment.

I've started digging through the parts that were removed from the car yet saved. I'm going to get cleaning and / or rebuilding for reinstallation. MCACN 2021 is on the radar!
