Do you have the metal piece that goes behind the door panel?
It's flat on one side of the opening to ket the joystick properly. |

Yes, unfortunately, I have a repro mirror....the threads on the joy stick barrel have 2 keyed flat spots in them...the flats SHOULD stop about 3 threads from the bottom...this stops the mirror cables from pulling through...THE REPOPS are keyed all the way down, with no stops, so the joystick assembly just slides through, as it has nothing to stop it.....I verified this at Parts Place who has the repops made...I was informed to "twist it a little and jam the threads into the escutcheon....not acceptable in my garage.

OK. Bitten by the Chinese bug AGAIN!
How about a small aeroseal clamp with a couple of 90° pieces of metal to give it a shoulder to seat against ???? Or, clamp a piece of rubber hose around it? Charles |

solder
what i did I mine to keep it from pulling thru was added alittle solder on the end and used a dremel to clean it up to make stops. took about 40 mins. just rough it up with scotchbrite and use a good amount of flux.

Charles, and Bryan....I have similar thoughts....I was going to wrap a couple turns of copper wire around the base of the threads, and apply some solder....will report back when I find a "suitable fix (2 weeks)...or the fire gets put out! LOL I am waiting for a shippment to arrive at PY....hopefully the "design flaw" has been corrected....Mike said they were out of stock and will let me know how the new ones are. I'll live!! Thanks Gents! Eric
