My 98 Z28 has Hooker duals - loud indeed.

If you want a real dual system on the 4th gen, Bassani made one of my favorites. It actually still used a transverse style muffler at the rear of the car, with dual in and dual out, all stainless steel.

It had very tolerable noise levels, not obnoxious, daily drove it, and fit very nice. Even had an X pipe.

It was actually out there long before Hooker and Cooks came out with what they use. Had a couple buddies use those systems, as they became popular mainly from a price point as they were less than Bassani, but damn those things were loud with basically nothing but a couple of bullet mufflers at the tail of the system.

If you don't want the expense of duals, something I did later, a little less expensive and showed more gain on the dyno, was a single mufflex system. I did a 4" system with 2 different mufflers. I tried Spintech and then Magnaflow. Magnaflow is what stayed on the car but that system was actually still too loud for my taste and it came off later.

for that kind of money you could buy a differant car with 200000 less miles and build motor and sell your car for 3000 and be way ahead.
I sold my 99 130000 miles 400 hp forged bottom end new tranny new tires for $10000.

I hear you. Those thoughts have been rattling in my brain as well. If I sold the TA for 5K and bought another F-body, for instance, for 15k, I'm still 10k in the hole and will have to spend a lot more money to get it in the shape that my TA is in. Everything on that car has been replaced and needs nothing.....

Thanks for all the advice. I did decide to go with the build - which will start in mid-May. I'm not going to do the dual exhaust; I'll stick with the TSP cat back and make adjustments to the muffler if need be.

That's just it. It's hard to replace a car you've had for 15-20 or even 30 years because you've been through it, you know what it is, you know what's there and what to expect.

Selling it and getting another car is like starting all over from scratch again.

That would be a much more simplified upgrade than the first quote. The first quote has me swapping out the fuel pump, injectors ... pulleys .....etc.....etc.....

And since the square ports require an LS3 intake, you'll also need an adapter for the 3bolt throttle body. If you switch to a 4 bolt TB... hopefully you have drive by cable, because converting the later DBW TB requires an expensive wire harness to convert the signals to talk to the ECU. Then you need to swap to a larger CAI tube and MAF sensor to mate to the larger diameter TB.

True. But I've decided to use my heads and intake. The only thing that is changing is my block.

Exactly. It also looks like it has under 100k on the clock too.... even the interior!

At first I read that as 108 LSA with +5 ICL. I was thinking, wow that is some crazy advance. And to spec that much overlap, you must really hate your tuner !

Should be a good combo. Who's grinding that for you? Are you upgrading the stall?

Hahaha ... that would be a hell of a lot of advance. With that, I wonder if it would fall right on it's face at 3k!!

I think it will be a good combo. It's Spartan LSX Performance that is doing the cam and the work. As for the stall, it's got a 2600 Vigilante that is about 4 years old but it still seems solid.

I never went that route. It's a stroked LS1. Here is a cold start.... and a warm idle.
