I wouldn't be surprised if that was a one or two owner car. Still has original style hubcaps. Probably hasn't changed hands in many years..

Welcome to PY!
That looks like a heck of a deal on the GP.

After buying the car I opened the glovebox and found registration dating back to the early 80s. My working theory is that an odler gentleman owned it for most of his life and when he either passed or couldn't drive it sat or was taken to the junkyard. I don't know the full history but it was registered in California before it came to Washington state so it might be a California car, which might explain the lack of major rust.

The hideaway headlights and the taillights have to be my favorite part of the car. Apart from the 400 of course

Here are some more pictures of the Grand Prix! You can see how the trunk is rusted but not too bad, and the floors of the car look to be in excellent condition looking from underneath. Also the interior looks to be complete as well, I haven't noticed any missing trim or other parts although the part that joins the console to the dash has an aftermarket radio installed. It looks like it has been cut which is unfortunate but on the whole it's not too bad. I also removed some of the primer that was on the car to get a look at the original paint and it is a darker turquoise, I don't think its a 2 tone car. There's also a picture of the body tag so I anybody wants to help decode it that would be amazing.

Pictures continued:
I hit the limit of pictures in my last post so here are pictures of the trunk, the floors, the block #, and what looks to be filler stuffed into a hold on the drivers side roof rail/A pillar. |

Here is also a clip shortly after I got the car to fire up. It runs better now but I think there was still some bad gas in the carburetor which is why it sounds a little rough. I have an AFB 4242S that's waiting to be rebuilt to replace the Holley 4 Barrel.

I am officially jealous. Man you got a good deal. 1980's kinda good deal. Its so hard to find a classic in that condition for that kind of price. You could get that car running better, go through the brakes and clean it up. Quadruple your money if you decided not to keep it. The important thing is that the car didn't get scrapped. I hope you keep her and put her back on the road.

Welcome.
From the pictures.....that’s a car that’s crying to be mostly left alone cosmetically. “Big Block” Pontiac power with a manual trans and ice cold air.

Per the trim tag, exterior color was Tahoe Turquoise, with Turquoise interior. Beautiful combo, and definitely a "60s look".
You really scored with that car. Congrats!

I'm still new to Pontiacs but I looked through the service manual and the GTO I think was equipped with the Qjet while the rest of the lineup had a 2 barrel or the AFB. Could be wrong though
