So for years I thought the block in my car was from a '67 GTO. Don' t know how I concluded that but I now found out its a 455 from I think 1973.
The numbers on the block are: 485428 728611 XL 23A226848 Is there anyway to find out what kind of car it was in from the factory? The heads are 1971 96 heads so no clues can be found there..

485428 cast number is 455 fer sure.

Thanks for the info, so it could have come from pretty much anything then. One day I will just have to pull it and find out what parts are in it.. One day...
