Default 85cc kre heads on a 400

Would 85cc aluminum heads be a huge difference on a 400 with 3.73 gears, edelbrock intake, currently has 5c heads. Or should I wait on a set of 72/74cc heads.

You left out the most important detail, that being what Cam are you running?

Not sure what's in it. Sounds pretty big. I get about a 10hg vaccum reading at idle. 2800 stall

You`re spending money. Wait on the 72cc heads. If you build a 455 or a stroker 400 block later, use a modern dish piston.

You would have to work pretty hard to find a camshaft to cause a 400 aluminum head to ping with 72/74. Cc's
Especially if there is no heat crossover

I personally would wait for the smaller chamber

Ok, let me ask a different way about your cam. When you preform a hot cranking compression test what your numbers?

If you don’t know, then you should find out so you can have a base line on the motor to compare to as it gets miles collected on it.

Also note that smaller chambers will not only pick you up compression, but increase the vacuum and smooth out the motors idle nature.
