3 of the bolts were replaced from another motor. I just finished having a motor built and the engine guy put studs it, so took the bolts from the missing 3 bolts from the other 4 bolt block and put them in this one

Okay Everyone!
Here is proof from General Motors Pontiac out of their 1971 Service Manual. The 1971 Service manual as captured in the pictures shows the YC motor was an HO. This is indisputable evidence from the manufacturer. Page 6-6 YC motor is an HO |

What you just posted clearly shows that your block was a 325 horse block. I’m tempted to order the PHS myself and post it up.

I would consider buying the motor in question if it would put a stop to this insanity. |

So what it can be a 4cylinder with 75 HP as far as i care. As long as it says HO.

1967-74 Chiltons repair manual I have been using it since 79. It has the B G body listings for the YC also.

I was waiting for that you win Tom!
At first I was so excited but if you look at the sign its indeed a plus not a cross. The plus sign just says The WJ engine code is is manual transmission. I concede this is not an official HO motor per Pontiac |

funny, laughs. Good dialogue though. Almost worth the money for the motor just to here the history of these motors from guys who have been doing this for a while. Motor is still for sale at a discount now, laughs

The Service Manual shows a '+' next to the YC not a dagger.
Being an early engine/block, there may be more people interested in it. Later blocks were plentiful. And possibly the people may like the early block compared to the later ones. But it is not a 455 HO engine. The Engine code (YC) determines what was put in/on the block. But everything can interchange to make that block what you want.

Yeah I know i may have pissed some people off here but this is a topic i searched and searched and searched on before posting the motor for sale. Hopefully this thread can be linked and searched within google as this topic arrises again. People thought originally these motors didnt make it to A and F bodys and now we know yc motor were indeed installed in a and f bodies. Also it seems some were installed with HO components meaning higher compression pistons, heads etc. However i clearly state this motor before the stamp and before the internals were put in was in fact the identical block as the HO as it was sitting there with 4 bolt caps and would make a nice replacement block for those gone extinct. Even this motor somehow getting a 4 boltmain and caps is a mystery and quite possibly the last 483677 motor built on Sept 10, 1970 Last edited by caddor38; 12-27-2021 at 03:22 PM. |

You are correct. I learned something from OPH's post and that wouldn't have happened without this thread.

I remember back in 2014 you were trying to make a 63 421SR block to be a 63SD block!I see a pattern here!Tom

I only post on here when I can help with a pic or know exactly what I am talking about is correct, so not very often. If OPH and these guys tell you something they are right and someone else is wrong, yes even Mecum!
