68 GTO overflow tank
Anyone making these? They seem to be pretty scarce, mine has some holes
Not sure if there is a variety of them, but this is an AC car, the tank is large, has a funny goose neck on it. White in color.

It must be aftermarket Data. No A body overflow tanks until 73 or there-about

I'm obiviously losing my mind. I had this very discussion within the last year or two where I told someone else there was no overflow on a 68.
Meanwhile I've saved this giant ass over flow jug for 25 years thinking it was for my GTO .. wonder what it IS for, I'm thinking my long gone 78 Chevy PU. I guess now I can throw away the "original" ribbed overflow hose and proper cap Cleaning the shop certainly reminds a person how old they are getting ... in more ways than one PS. Moderator, please delete this thread to avoid embarasment.

Anyone ever setup their vintage car with a sealed system like a modern vehicle .... pressure cap on the catch tank instead of the radiator ... radiator stays full to the top all the time?

Mid 82-87 F-body tank fits the inner fender contour nicely, just need the cap that goes with it..
GM # 14070997 - tank GM # 15630112; cap.

Would be cool to know the details of that. Vastly superior system in my opinion. Seems like it could be done by retro fitting an off the shelf modern overflow tank and cap and maybe a real low pressure cap on the vintage radiator?
BTW ... I'm talking about the type of system where the recovery tank is at system pressure, so the pressure cap is on the recovery tank.

Regular cap on radiator.
No pressure on overflow tank. Heated water moves into tank, cool water sucks it back. Works just fine. |

Johnny,
Not pressurized but here are a few pics of an aftermarket setup that looks period correct. I am sure that you can easily fab the basket but locating a tank may take a bit of searching. Dave

This is from a mid seventies Nova. Partially hidden under the passenger fender. There is a reproduction available from the Chevy vendors. (OPGI, Classic etc)

Excellent ideas ...
Do you guys with overflow systems keep your radiators full to the top?

It'll do that all by design...coolant heats up and is sent out to the bottle...cools down and draws it back to the rad and it'll keep it full.
I keep my coolant about 2" from the top and it never pukes coolant out.
