Ram Air Manifolds on 1978 Trans Am
I have Ram Air 2.5 exit manifolds from Ames on my 1978 trans am and the driver side is hitting the fuel line and bolt on the frame. There is no clearance even with new motor mounts. Is anyone else running into this issue? I am thinking about adding shims under the motor mounts to lift it up. I also may just ditch the manifolds and go with Dougs like I did on my 1970 bird.

No problem with any bolts on the frame... Can it be rerouted or slightly bent? Headers seam like a lot of expense & extra work.

Ram air manifolds came off last night. New Doug's should be coming in today. I have Doug's on my 1970 and they clear everything so this should solve the problem.

Are you interested in letting of the ram air manifolds? I am interested in them.
Send me a pm if so. In the meantime I will try to figure out how to clean the inbox. It says I am 100% full |

Yes. I already have alot of interest on FB as these must be out of stock everywhere. I would like to sell the manifolds, mounting hardware, studs w/ brass bolts/ cast collector flanges and stainless down pipes all together.

Have them on the 81 and no issues other tan tight near starter.

If you're referring to the 1/4" fuel line I had the same problem on my 75 TA when I installed RA exhaust manifolds. I removed the bolt and clamp rerouted the line under the sub frame to the fuel pump then drilled a new hole for the clamp. Worked like a charm.

I'm thinking you have the wrong motor mounts ,the pics are on my 78TA . RA manifolds from PYPES waited 9 months for them, in both pics you can see the troublesome bolt, I just tip the engine to install also removed inner fenderwell

My '70 ram air D port manifolds hit the fuel return line on my 78 when I put them on.

You don't have a fuel return line routed across the subframe, the bolt head would stick up in the circled area right underneath the manifold. My RA manifolds are from RARE

I could have removed the bolt and rerouted the line but I ended up going with Dougs headers... New motor mounts, new Robbmc ministarter, hotchkis drop springs.... May have gone a little overboard but she should be ready when the weather brakes!
