It's not low enough
So new here. Thanks for the acceptance. A little about my build
1958 pontiac superior chief ambulance Stock 15" wheels, stock suspension components except its bagged (some will hate some will love. Just remember I built this for me nobody else) 6.0 ls 4l80e trans My question. Is being it's a 58 and a pain to find aftermarket support on suspension components. Has anyone swapped spindles to something that has more options? I. Wanting 2" drop spindles so that I can lay frame |

I am not 100% sure, but I think these might work for you. https://www.speedwaymotors.com/RideT...dy,337799.html

Unfortunately I don't think those will work as chevy had different ball joints. Pontiac uses an oddball 58 only balljoint

Pretty common Pontiac practice to do stuff like that. You may have to look at putting the chevy arms on the car. I've dealt with this on my 69 bird which has 1 year, 1 manufacturer only parts all over it. In general it's almost always necessary to put the chevy variant part on the car to get it to do what you want.
That doesn't work out well for concourse and factory correct restos, but in my case, and your case, the cars are far from factory, so that's not really a concern.

1958 is a one-year spindle too. We have a bunch of engineering sample spindles, Chevy B's included (but no 1958).
Measure the height of the 58 spindle and will compare it to out sample and go from there. This spindle swap may also change your bolt pattern too. |

Fatman Fabrication has dropped spindles in their catalog, but only up to 1957. I *think* they may also do one-off custom work, you could give them a call. https://www.fatmanfab.com/dropped-uprights-spindles

Steering arms won't interchange - 3.125" vs. 3.800" spacing and Impala's are front steer.

First of all, welcome and I really like your car.
Have you considered cutting off the frame at the firewall and putting on a later model front frame section? Maybe add a rack and disc brakes at the same time. Would probably be the easiest way in the long run. Considering you’ve committed to an LS motor, an upgraded front end would be a good idea. Post more pics . . . . .😎

Cutting the frame and stubbing it isn't an option. I have thought about it though. Just don't want to get that radical with the frame mods as it sits right now with the airbags if I ever wanted I could put the stock springs back in it and put it back to stock

I’m guessing the majority of guys whose cars can lay frame are doing some pretty extensive mods to their chassis and body.
I’d be happy where you’re at, getting down much further gets into heavy and more costly mods.

Ironically I'm only about 1/2 inch from laying frame and that's what I'm trying to get to. I don't want to modify the body to drop it down over the frame. Even though it would look better

Tires that are 1” smaller in diameter or more will get you there. Maybe switch to 14” wheels with the same tire size.
I realize replacing good tires isn’t what most would want to do but the next time you’re buying a set that would e something to consider.

Just weld 1/2 plate to the bottom of the frame . . . .. Or not . . . .

Nope. Bolt on 1/2" titanium skid blocks/landing pads

Could you swap out the body bushings to get the car to sit lower on the frame? I know its not "laying frame" but the overall image would be the same.
