If you can find an ORIGINAL Delco 43-MX starter; this is what we used when I worked for an Olds dealership, for 455 equipped cars that had a hard start issue when hot.

Man you got that right.
Troubleshooting a 69 Olds 400 heat soak issue on the Classic Olds page, and wow he spelled out details on this problem that blew my mind. Found this page through a google search of a Delso 43-mx. Then to read Rocketman's comment really hit the bullseye. |

A original hi-torque AC/Delco rebuilt with a HD solenoid spring and heat shield on solenoid will crank every time.
