Side view examples of 275mm tire on 15x7 Rally IIs
Hi all,
I have new BFG 275/60R15s mounted on my 15x8 Centerline wheels, but I'm thinking about changing over to Rally II wheels for a more traditional look. I found 15x7s at the junk yard (4" backspacing) and refurbished them for my MT DOT 255mm slicks, but I'm not sure if a 275 will fit on a 15x7, which are far easier to find used vs. 15x8s? If 275s will fit on a 15x7 Rally II, can you share some side-view examples showing how far the tire sticks out from the rim? I'm thinking it may look too bulged out? If not, I only need one more 15x7 from the junk yard that I can refurb to swap over to the Rally IIs. Pics attached are 275/60R15 on Centerlines and 255/60R15 Mickey Thompson DOT slicks on 15x7 Rally IIs. Thanks! Jim.

If you can find used 15x8's they are aftermarket....Pontiac didn't make 15x8 Rally II's...that's why they're hard to find.

The 275/60s are actually a pretty good fit in a 15x7” Rally II.

Yep they fit fine, I've run 275's on 7" rims for decades on a few different cars, including my bird.
If you want an 8" rally II they are sold aftermarket. |

Here’s a pic of 275/60/15s on a 15x8 rally II with 4.5” backspacing. I had the wheels custom made in the mid 90s.

No problem running 275/60/15s on 15x7s, I've been doing it since 07. 15x8s would be ideal, though. Your car is beautiful, is that Liberty Blue?

If others have more pics, please feel free to share. The color of my Custom S is more like the first few pics, especially the third pic. It's not Liberty Blue (although I love that color!), it's some other GM color of some sort?? It's got an "Earl Scheib" paint job from 17+ years ago from the previous owner = looks great from 20', but definitely has some orange peel. I swear, for some reason, it seems women really love that color! Can't tell you how many compliments I've gotten over the years. The last pic came out darker for some reason when I edited it to zoom in more. P.S. Let me try to re-attach your pics with the correct orientation. The site did the same thing to me last night = wonky. Also adding a pic that is more representative of the color.

I tried the 275 s on the rear about 30 years ago and the handling in turns became high oversteer.
So the decision was 245s all around, and that takes some front fender-tip (and stainless-tip) trimming for best results. I suppose the 235s on the front, and something bigger in the back is what everyone else uses. Naw, meh, no thanks. |
