We used LPS-3 in aircraft maintenance. Only solvent would remove it.

Yeah I use it one my spherical rod ends in my airplane as well. It was the CRC that really surprised me . 4 for the price of one LPS3

It seems many tests are done with "bare steel" which is often NOT the case in many of our needs.
I too like LPS-3 and was turned on to it at the paint shop at the Base. ( the paint booth there had a film of OIL running down the walls to get rid of the dust as we slung Lead based DP40 on Bomber wheels!)
That said, for winter on the underside of a vehicle I like Woolwax when installed correctly. It can and does withstand underbody washes.
I like cavity wax inside door seams.
Its not inhibiting anything though, its just keeping the O2 away from metal and will sorta soak into surface rust.
Underhood, if its bare metal I always grab the RPM. This stuff keeps an alternator new for literally decades.
Just seems rare you get a chance to coat a piece of metal in the auto industry that isn't already Zinc or other anodized, or parkerised
I do use Boeshield on all the original bolts I parkerize, about 20 lbs last year.

Thanks for posting that link great info there . I’m always suprised none of these test include cosmoline.

Cosmoline is a lot like woolwax and doesn't really have any adhesion qualities to speak of, so its avoided in tests with high pressure washers .
Back in the '70's our Pontiac dealership used Quaker state oil and so we had a product called "Quaker Coat" for undercoating, which was very waxy and didnt get hard like normal undercoatings of the day.
Most all the Iron engine parts we got shipped to us had cosmoline on them though.
