Thanks Champ .
Would have figured they were putting more gouge into it. I do pay $30 surcharge per month for the honor of being on the Co-Op Grid. 2 stone throws from city limit line. |

Will generic mobile charging stations work on Tesla cars ?
Will Tesla branded charging stations work with other EV 's ? Yesterday had to stop at our local Library There was a brand new EV charging station in their parking lot ( 2 car unit ). It is the only EV charger in our small somewhat metropolitan town. Really struck me as Odd being at the Library. However it is only about 1 mile from the main highway. Could be helpful to travelers who can't make the additional 30 miles to Greensboro to some of the Sheetz stations that have 8-12 Tesla branded chargers. Maybe the Library is about to switch to EV's , is my best guess. Didn't notice it until I was leaving. Will ask next time. |

Thanks for the good info Dan.
That just quadrupled my EV/Tesla knowledge. Prior to the new charger at Library , all I had ever seen were Tesla branded chargers. But I don't get out and about in the bigger towns much anymore. |

What I find even more odd is they put 4 chargers in at a brand new Alliance Home Improvement center they just built up in town. They are over on the side of the building, sort of out of sight. There are no other charging stations I'm aware of, but they chose to put one in at a home improvement store??? Seems odd to me. Been about a year now, drive by there daily and shop there frequently, I've never seen them used once. Kind of funny I buy fuel a couple times a week at the local station that is in the lot next door.

The stupid thing about the whole charger situation is that Tesla chargers are only for Tesla cars. Instead of an SAE standard charging plug for all auto makers, like a universal gas filler nozzle for unleaded gasoline, there could have been more chargers for everyone to use no matter what brand of EV they buy.

Reading what you guys post trying to see if EV are efficient. I read article by Toyota keeping ice/ev vehicles.
Just saw on news 2 Tesla drivers got into a fight at a recharging station. |

Elon pulled a page from the iPhone playbook with proprietary receptacle.
But on a grander scale. If you invent an adapter to use a Tesla charger , you still need a Tesla account to use it. Probably need a confirmed VIN to start an account. Toyota is deeply involved in hydrogen powered vehicles right now. |

Non-Tesla cars can now use Tesla charging stations, but it does require an adapter. https://www.theverge.com/2023/3/1/23...ent-access-app The reverse is also true, Teslas can use non-Tesla charging stations but again an adapter is needed.

Tesla is rolling out its "magic dock" chargers that can charge both tesla and non-tesla cars. For non-tesla users, you setup your account via a phone app and then scan a QR code on the charger to bill your account. Quite seamless.
Tesla's charging network is a major differentiator when considering what brand of EV to purchase. I haven't charged at a non-home charger in two years, but for those traveling substantial distances it obviously becomes important (also those living in apartments/ no garage/driveway.). I pay 3 cents per mile for electric from my home charger - oh, and the car literally drives itself (well almost).

Yes, I see the results from the "self driving" Tesla crashes on the news. I thought the government is investigating Tesla for their problem.

charging stations on the east side of the city. Very common location for a charging station. The Edsel Ford Estate (maybe 3 miles south) down the road has close to 4 times that many charging stations in their visitor parking lot. I think Ford had at least 8 charging stations in JUST the Research Building parking lot in Dearborn, Mi. Very common here. Tom V.

Love the Gasoline Forever drop. I am wearing my Freiberger "Gasoline Forever" sweatshirt right now. At the GM Warren Tech Center, there are probably a 100 or so chargers around the 1 square mile site. We just came back from camping up in Traverse City Michigan, we ran the Traverse City Trail Festival, we pulled our 21' travel trailer up and back, about 500 miles total. I would hate to try and find a charger for an electric pick up while pulling our trailer. Until it is convenient or at least close, most people are not going to convert. My buddy just put his name and deposit on a 2024 ? Dodge pick up. I like the GM electric pick up, but it is way more expensive than my 2018 Chevy Colorado.

In a couple of weeks I’ll be traveling to TN and when booking my trip, couldn’t help but notice that the Hertz website was pretty gung-ho on renting Tesla Model 3’s and Model Y’s. A Tesla for the price of an econobox? Why not. I reserved a Y more out of curiosity than anything else.
I guess I’ll carve a notch in the dashboard for each time I get coal-rolled? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
