Level One does a phenomenal job restoring cars, and they have done quite a few rare and interesting Pontiacs.

Bogus emblem , car isn't even wearing radial tires ! ha
Pretty certain this is the same car I could have bought in 1988 for $8500 from a street racer in Eden NC. His name escapes me at the moment, but he was full blooded Pontiac It was still running the original block and heads. Bill H. in Western NC mountains bought it from him around 1990 and did a full blown restoration. The plastic front valance was NOS from old stock at Fuquay Pontiac in Danville VA , the only NOS one I had ever seen or heard of. Head scratcher about the RTS inside of a 250-300k car. There was a 1973 SD455 4-spd T/A that was a street racer advertised in either the back of HPP or in POCI back in the late 80s or early 90s. I thought it was Brewster Green. I never went to see it, but I had a friend tell me about it. I think the rear wheel well arches were cut out and it had fender flares. Is this the same car?

Same car Mike.
It was painted Black , but was factory Red. No flares , and I don't think any cuts either. No rust , but the car had right much wear and tear . Its bugging me that I can't remember his name because he became a friend. He had other Pontiacs too. I knew about the car a couple years before he advertised it for sale. I think Bill paid 12 or 15 for it |

Is Bill Howell still around?
I saw him about ten years ago, but I haven't seen or heard anything about him in a long time. |

I haven't been around in the car scene circles for a while.
Last time I saw Bill and Doris was at the POCI Convention in South Carolina. That might have been 15 years ago ..... good gracious where does the time go. At POCI @ SC they brought a 70 RamAir IV 4spd TA they had just finished restoring. |

I'd happily take that car any day, RTS badge and all. Yep.

If They gave it to me I'd take it also!
But if I paid a ton of money for a restoration and they put a dash with the RTS emblem in there, I'd be totally P.O.'d!!! (why are about every one I see restored have a dash with the RTS emblem?)

Just sent my '73 dash to randy combs as a core. Lucky he had one for a '73 to do before I sent mine back for as a core. Randy said the '73 is hard to get while the RTS ones are plentiful. This was a while ago but I think he said the '73 has a different wiper control or headlight switch. I'll have to check if the variance is both or just one.

Wasn’t RTS a thing in 73? I’m sure my 73 Formula had it.

Not on '73. It was on the dash bezel in '75. in '74 RTS was on the dash glove box lid.
RTS was only on the '73 Grand Am, but no emblem for RTS was on it. I compared my '70 to '73 and it seems the '70 has two separate lines to describe the wiper switch and headlight switch. The '73 has one plate to describe the switches. Now I remember that Randy Combs talked about the wiper switch was different when the pulse wiper came out. Sorry about the miscue. Ok, Thanks! A 75 Trans Am was my first car so that must be what I’m remembering. Plus a friend of mine had a 73 Grand Am in High School that we would cruise around in. They were good cars to have in High School.

I'll go one step further and say that if I was in the market for a 73 SD I would not let the RTS badge get in the way of an otherwise good car.

This^^^ How many awesome cars have a stupid red 400-4 air cleaner decal? Doesn't take away the fact they are nice cars, just peel the damn thing off and throw it in the trash. Problem solved and you still have a nice car

I thought radials were an option on the 1973 Trans Am?

They were. Just not RTS emblems.
(not sure the suspension were 'tuned' either, just radial tires)

My '73 SD Formula was ordered with radial tires. It does not have the RTS emblem.
'74 was the 1st year for the RTS emblem. It was the only year the emblem was on the glovebox door.
