Sprint OHC valves seals
Currently doing a 230 ohc sprint engine.
It has dual valve springs on it. Does anyone have a part number for positive valve seals to use on the intake and exhaust valves. Please and thank you. |

I have never had one of them apart to know what they use.
Are the O-rings on the valve stems, or like umbrellas on top the valve guides?

If using PC seals, I pretty much expect that the heads would need to be machined for them.

Probably need to buy the V8 Guide cutting tool to cut the Guide bosses to .530" or heck no the .50" dia.

From what I can tell by looking at a head gasket set for that motor it looks like all the valves use valve stem O-rings, and the 6 intake valves also so use a added seal.
I just can not tell by just the gasket set if these are umbrella type seals which just ride up & down on the stem, or if they are the positive type that would need the tops of the guides to be cut flat and then the OD of the guide would bd cut to .530”.

If your head has been rebuilt than it might have solid 1 piece guides like these or in cast iron in which case you would need a .500” OD seal.

Did you search the OHC tech section? Lots of OHC experience there.
And Welcome Aboard.

I had an OHC-6 or two apart but really don't remember anything but fat cast valveguides like the 60's V8 heads.

No seals on the exhaust and o-ring and loose umbrella on the intakes. They can be machined for positive seals, but not factory.
