RIP Lloyd Coulson
I found out from another long time Houston Pontiac gut that has know Lloyd for longer than me Lloyd passed away this week. I met Lloyd in the 80s at the Gulf Coast Trans Am Club when he had his red SD clone car. A few Autorama's with our cars and trips to Dallas for the Pontiac Southern Nationals. He was always a great guy and glad to help anyone.

I got a few calls this afternoon from fellow Pontiac guys here in Houston that Lloyd had passed around noon today. This past year Lloyd had been in bad health due to diabetes. What a fun and knowledgeable guy to be around. He will be greatly missed. May he rest in peace with all our Pontiac brothers that have gone before him.

Really sad. I remember him hiring Goathead (Danny Reegan) to install all the audio/video when he was building his house. About 10 years ago a lot of the Houston area auto repair shops rented the Baytown dragstrip, and Lloyd called me and invited me to make some runs - that was a really fun day, and I had the quickest run of the day :-) Really crazy, the swings in fortune that befell him.

Besides the diabetes Lloyd had had congestive heart failure and had been hospitalized with it off and on. I think he had even had to have some toe amputations from the diabetes.
Lee yes we were both at that event at Baytown(RIP Baytown track). I had put sticky DOTs on my '04 GTO for that deal and you had the wagon there I think. Lloyd introduced me to Ultradyne cams like he had back in the SD clone. I was there when he dynoed the 455 HO motor that was in his blue Formula Dan Barton helped him with. His last Pontiac project. When his daughter was a teenager he got an off-road side by side they played with a lot.

Met Lloyd a few times, mainly in the 90`s at the PSN events. Seemed like a cool guy in my limited time talking to him. Seems like I remember that white hair even back then.
Since it`s Christmas, look at it this way. What are we celebrating? Jesus` birthday or the 1`st coming of Christ? So, for Lloyd, and all others, when one passes, they have their Christmas. Or the 2`nd coming for them. As it states in 2`nd Corinthians 5:8; "To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord." |

I'm sorry to hear the news. I had spoken with Lloyd a few times in the past. Super nice friendly guy. Went out of his way to help me find and buy an HO Formula years ago.
Rest in peace my friend. |
