At least you sold it and hopefully it lives still! I wish I would not have parted out some of the cars I did! Do a DMV search by state, start in Joisey and work outward. My buddy just found his dads mustang he bought new in 1990 in South Carolina.

maybe crazy
Do you think you can reverse engineer and get a vin from a last registration address in 1982 NEW JERSEY of a 1970 GTO?
I sold the car in 1982 and have pictures but no vin. Even a Maaco paint job quote from 02/08/1982 They did not put the vin down. I thought maybe from my registration address in NJ some how a vin could be found in DMV NJ Probably a long shot but there are some great detectives out there Possibly with a vin a comprehensive search might reveal something AS Always Thanks in advance. |

Maybe check with the insurance company you used. They'll have the vin listed on your policy.

It's a good idea. Also, the DMV keeps a record of every vehicle you’ve registered under your license number, even if you’ve moved out of state and have a new driver’s license. They’ll be able to provide you with the VIN number by showing your license.

As a Nj resident, Nj dmv claims they don’t keep dmv records past 7yrs. I’ve tried to get them to look up records in the past
