I got so frustrated getting things lined up on mine, I cut & re-welded the back bracing in the fenders in a few spots. Now they fit the bumper just like they were never supposed to.

Oh boy, If you only knew all the stories he has about this car, after 48 years and counting, he's still making stories, LOL

Possibly. Cameras play havoc with these blue/green/silver type colors.
It's a beautiful photo. I suspect it's from a color slide.

I'm very biased because like many of you I spent high school in either my 1969 GTO convertible or a friends 1969 Carousel Red Judge. I still have that 69 and it's now a project I'd love to get on the road again.
That being said the 68 had some serious innovation and won all kind of style points. I love the rear quarter stickers that clear up any confusion about what type of GM A body someone is looking at. The Hurst Dual Gates are pretty awesome and the list of great features in GTO's of this era go on and on. |

Difficult to say. I like the single glass of the 69's doors, but always preferred the front parking light/side marker arrangement of the 68 way more than the 69's "portholes". Ideally, I should build a hybrid but I know everyone will excoriate me for it. :P

68 GTO
The 1968 GTO is my favorite of the 68 and 69. Not only was it my first car, it was the first year of the new body style and was Motor Trend Car of the Year.
The '68 was the first car to incorporate a colored bumper that was an extension of the body of the car itself. All cars today do not have a bolt on chrome bumper and the '68 GTO was the first car ever to start this trend that is now standard on the industry with regards to styling. Yes, improvements to under the hood things were made in '69, but the '68 grill work, interior work and the rear bumper looked better in '68 and were not improved for '69. No offense to the '69 owners, but '68 is the best year of all GTOs. Have owned mine for 45 years and have no plans to ever sell it. |

Rather thrilled to own the 68. Even if it were a 68 LeMans. I like when others own the 69s

Between the '68 and '69 model year, I prefer the '69 (rear bumper, side windows, ignition in column, no arrowhead on endura, etc). Had a '69 Cameo White that I sold and replaced with my overall favorite...1970!
