Is this correct door lock switch placement
Do these pics show the correct placement of the power door lock switches for a 1970 GTO?
Ive looked through this site, the assembly and fisher body manuals with no luck and there are no perforations or markings on the back of original or repro door panels to help. |

Yes, those look correct for 1970 only.

I don't recall door panel prep being such a pain in the rear, but after much cutting, massaging and spewing a few bad wwords, I think it's finally in place for good. In the photo the PW switch looks crooked but that's just the camera angle. I also found and used an original piece of waterproofing paper.

The passenger side with 2 matching switches is a clumsy setup, even if one is upside down to hide the Lock lettering.

It took all day but both doors are done. I had to use 10 old armrests to make one good pair.

I have door speakers cut into the panels of my red 70 convertible, but that was done in the '80's when a GTO was just a fun old musclecar. If I knew then what prices Judge convertibles would bring I would have kept the RAIII motor. INstead I swapped in a 455 with fuel injection, 4 wheel discs, bigger wheels, better suspension, a 6-speed with overdrive and a real stereo. I will say, however, that it is WAY more fun to drive than my stock RAIV ragtop with 70 series tires.
This is my 455 car. I think it's tastefully done. |
